Carob is growing in their native habitat, It can be found in the Mediterranean.

Known around the world for its sweet and nutritious fruits. Carob pods are around 09-22 cm and dark brown in color. Once the carob is ripped, the harvest starts! Carob is collected and processed. In Algeria, the Harvest usually starts by the 10th of August each year.

The pods are crushed to obtain kibbled carob, carob flour and carob seeds. Kibbled carob is transformed itself to make carob powder and also used to make molasses. Carob flour is generally used as animal feed.

Carob seeds, roasted then processed, procure locust bean gum known as E410. This last is commonly used as a natural food additive and stabilizer in food especially in dairy products.

The sweet pods of carob are used as animal feed

Once crushed and carob seeds are removed, it is fedto horses, cattle, pigs and goats. Researches proved that carob is a good potential energy source for cattle. Carob is a great source of fiber and protein; it helps to improve digestion and lowers cholesterol.
